Prof. Dr. Robby Houben is of counsel at Arcas Law. He is a Professor at the University of Antwerp, where he teaches corporate law and sports law. He obtained his PhD in 2010 with a dissertation on set-off and has been practicing law since 2011. As of counsel at Arcas Law, he combines his academic and practical insights to approach corporate law disputes with strategic precision, with a particular focus on directors' liability, shareholder disputes, and governance issues.
Robby Houben is the author of more than 160 publications on corporate and sports law. His Handbook of Corporate Law is regarded as the first comprehensive reference work on Belgian corporate law in Dutch. He is a sought-after speaker and advisor, including for the European Parliament, and combines his academic work with a sharp understanding of the practice of corporate law.
In addition to his focus on corporate law, he has a strong affinity for sports law. He is the founder of Football College, a spin-off of the University of Antwerp that specializes in education for the professional football world. He is also the initiator of the Pro League Business School and the Sporting Director Program, in collaboration with the Royal Belgian Football Association and the Pro League.
