Lies gained her master of law degree cum laude from Antwerp University in 2024. During her studies, she spent a semester studying at the University of Glasgow's renowned law school.

After gaining her master's degree, Lies took a basic mediation course and gained a Postgraduate Certificate in Health Law and Health Ethics magna cum laude, both at Antwerp University.
